Urgent! Open an Acct in best Swiss bank. Am coming on Work Permit.

Hi, I hail from India and am coming on a work permit to switzerland. I am an IT prof and will be working there for a Company for 5 months. I need to open an account in best bank in Zurich and would conitnually need to tranfer fuds back to india from my earning. please suggest which bank to seek in zurich and what is the pocedure for funds transfer, any difficulties regarding opeining acct., and what documents i need to carry.

I suggest Zurcherische Kantonalbank, www.zkb.ch .
It's the "National-" bank of the Canton of Zurich and is strong in local retail banking. They got offices and ATM's all over the Region and got a straightforward and efficent service. Their fees are, except for brokerage services, pretty low. And last but not least, they got a really excellent online banking solution that saves a lot of time.

International Money transfer is cheapest with the online banking solution, you just need the IBAN number of the acount you like to transfer money to, the fee is about CHF 5.- for an international transaction. most other transactions are free of charge.

For opening an account you will need your passport. If you'd like to get a credit card they may request your working permit, but actually your passport should be enough.
