Getting married in Bahrain

I need some information, if anyone could help me, please do so.
I am a Hungarian woman born Christian but converted into a Muslim 3 years ago. My fiance is Bulgarian and not Muslim.
My question is if we come to Bahrain, will the Bahrain laws let us get married there? If yes, what's the procedure like and how long would it take? What document do we need to provide?

hi..i want tell you about merit in bahrain..i think this noway,coz in 2005 i get merit with bahraini man..and morethan 2 years i wait answer from immigration of bahrain about viza,they not give me any answer just they make me out from bahrain to my country,and still im in my country coz my hasbent cannot take my viza to bring me back..................this very bad country..!!! im muslim and im from uzbekistan from muslim country..they not accept..coz if arab get merit with us...hmm..so who will merit with bahraini lady?....sure nobody!!!!!!!!!!norah12 Jan 2008, 10:18 - Report

From what I know, Bahrain is the only country in the Gulf that does marriages for non-Muslims. I witnessed, for example, a Swiss & a Thai lady at Bahrain court, so it is possible. What I don't know are the requirements for such marriage, I mean do they both have to be residents of Bahrain, what documents are required. Good luck!Brad19 Jan 2009, 09:50 - Report

As much as I know as one of friend's just married in Bahrain.
You go to a civil court to get married.
You do not have to be resident.
You do not have to be muslim.
You do need to make sure you satisfy the legal requirements of both partner's countries or the marriage may not be valid for citizenship etc.Nik01 Feb 2009, 09:15 - Report -

my fiance is from pakistan i am englishand waiting to apply for fiance visa but we were thinking can we go to marry in bahrain and can he come back to england with no questions we are both christian and dated for some time in england but we could not marry with the visa he had so he went back to sort things out and also renew passport if we could marry there it would save all the hassel of a wedding being prepared here we like things simple.kay and zafi04 May 2009, 08:44 - Report
