My wife an I have lived in Dubai for almost 15 years now and we love it in Dubai. As part of the British community here we contribute a lot to this country and we consider it our own. We are respectfull to the locals and in the main they are respectfull back. Dubai is a modern city that provides everything a person wants as long as it doesn't go against the local religion. So people wishing to come here to work shouldn't hesitate.

I just had some friends over from the UAE and they say they, the locals, are treated worse than white people in Dubai. Hi, I just want to express my opinion on arab people: they suck. How did I get to this conclusion?, I had never been rascist in my life, until I started to know more about the islamic culture. Is not only stupid that they belive in the wacked Kouran where you can pretty much make any possible interpretation, but also it's like their whole race is full bullshit. I am an Indian and had been to most parts of Europe and lived there.Once i had gone thru dubai to europe as i got a deal in ticket fare.And i found Dubai is definetely not a place to work or live.I read about their Human rights index its very poor.Till now i am lucky that i never got any Middle-East country VISA on my passport..and hope in future also there shouldn't be a need.

Well, I think my title says it all. I have flown through Dubai twice in the past week and I hate it!!! First they put you at a stand miles away from the terminal then you sit on a bus for what seems like 10 years whilst some insane voice appologises for the inconvenience that emirates is bloody causing you. Then there is the usual crush at transit, not enough x-ray machines / far too many people, Fight your way past the still (even though duty free) overpriced shopping hell to the furthest possible gate to get on a plane to Q8! Where the stupid ground staff will fob you off with anything to shut you up and get you into their overheated cramped check in lounge!

Dubai is overrated! Sure you can go there if you are into hookers, partying, shopping, and expensive hotels (not worth the money)Basically Dubai is waste desert land, no beautiful landscapes, just sand! how interesting.I have been to a lot of places in the world, and Dubai is on the top of my list over places I do NOT like. Wasted too much money there on nothing... I've lived in Dubai for four years now and Ilove the place. Besides the fact that you can earn a lot of money here as an expatriate if you have the qualifications, there is so much to do here. You never get bored because there is always things to do. There is a brilliant knightlife scene if that is what you are into, clubs galore with a variety of music. Furthermore, there are many art galleries and historic museums if that is what you are into. As I have two young kids, my concern when I first came here from the UK was will there be suitable schools for them and places for them to hang out at. As far as the schools are I was pleasntly surprised that the schools were of good quality and the education system for expats from the Uk is of a high standard. There is also plenty of things to do for young teenagers, so they never get bored. There are nationalities from all over the world here, so consequantly nobody will ever feel homesick. The British community here is probably one of the biggest so maybe my experiance is better than some. But all in all I belive Dubai is a great place for expat parents in their thirties and forties to be!

I went to work as an architect in dubai. and guess what I was negotiated for a salary in Australia and as soon as my employers saw my colour they tried to cut my allowances, saying that indians get paid less. There's no difference folks, individuals have different perceptions of what values are, and at times, an individual, family, or culture is sick, has a struggle or communication problem, or needs support to become balanced or understanding).

It's up to each of us to strive and never give up. It may seem easier, EVEN JUSTIFIED to fall back into the comfortable decay of bigotry and take no responsibility (either side), but the decay eventually catches up and our whole life is not what it could have been. I choose now to do what could have been. To be one of the many individuals/families who respect, support and when there's fight, forgive (even in the midst of tragedy, injustice, or destruction. We know the leaders, individuals, artists and scientists all over the world and throughout history who have done this. This is not shallow and silly. It's effective, and much more mature and rewarding. When there is failure, strive to remedy--to create a win-win situation, or plan and go to where you can make a difference. Never give up your own power to make a difference--even in a blog. even in your office. Mix with friends. If they are not allowed in a club, don't go there yourself, and stick with friends who would do the same for you. This is in the ancient teachings and in the most cutting edge corporate work. It's not the easy road, but it ends up being the most luxurious one (I mean true luxury). These success stories have happened in the worst prisons and corporations, governments and even places of God. Keep your integrity and operate out of your philosophies', poetry's, and religions' original teachings of how to treat each other with respect, even if you differ, and how to further the human conversation. Though so very different in some ways, still, generally all have the same basic root teachings.

This is a grand experiment hosted by a leadership of a country. A land of Possibility. Creating things earlier described as impossible. Like history's silk road, the Iriquoi Nation (Native American Tribes who's principles were used to form the U.S. balance of government and human rights and like South Africa, Things aren't perfect, but powerful things can happen and it takes every one. Good builders, designers, leaders, workers, visitors.

Be careful, be respectful, strive to be happy. Let's teach the children, what we really want to be, and what we really want them to have.
That goes for you too children--for your futures.

If you count the number of people posting here, it wouldn't fill one high school classroom.

There are so many different people, groups & places in Dubai. I guess it's up to the individual to find their favorite place. We're deciding too. We're of different races. There have been a couple thoughtful, respectful postings here that I found helpful, but just a couple. Maybe there's another blog or stream some of us could create to have more mature, deeper inquiry into it.

doesnt take us anywhere giving such long sermons, well the truth is dubai is a racist country, neither you nor me, we can do anything about it,so in my opinion it would be better to educate the younger generation about this dumbf*** arabs and their ignorant nature so that they can be prepared to face it and it doesnt take them by surprise.peace out !!
