American Tourist 2 months then study visa 3 months, Is this possible?

My husband and I have made plans to travel to Italy this summer. We should arrive in early July. We are both accepted into a study abroad program through our respective American Universities which does not start until September. We are in the process of applying for our VISA studio to take into effect for September through December.
Will our summer travel plans interfere with our applying for the stay permit?American Tourist and Student10 Jun 2009, 10:53
