Looking for a Psychiatrist in Kuwait

I've seen one advertised in Shaab, Block 8, come off the 30 on at the first Shaab exit, and take the first -turn, you are there. No personal experience though, so just a location of one, not a recommendation.

Yeah, there's a psychiatrist called Isam Al-Ansari in Shiab right next to all the pharmacies. The thing is you might get some medications off of him but he isn't really that good.
I went to him and all he did was switch me from one useless medication to another. And he doesn't do therapy. He charges 20 KD for the 10 minutes where he asks you how you're doing and writes you a new prescription. Unforetunately, he's the only psychiatrist, that i know of, in kuwait; and beggars can't be choosers.

i am yet looking for a psychiatrist... I went to this Isam Al-Ansari character and i assure u , he can help u with nothing .. not even consultation / medication ... on my first visit he gave me vitamins , whilst my pyschiatrist from Lebanon prescribed xanax ! on my second visit he recommended me to another psychiatrist who never answers her phone ... so anyone expecting help from Al Isam needs more helps than ever !

My Lord! I'm reading your posts and I'm happy I got back to my home land alive and well (and almost sane). I was on the verge on a nervous breakdown during my staying in q8, but I never even considered seeing a shink there, because I didn't imagine there was one! However, I experienced similar situations because of my respiratory problems: I tried to seek an efficient treatement, but the 6 doctors that i went to changed the medication, because "mine is better than what he/she gave you". I'd say go home to where you came from and forget about that God forsaken place, that will take you sanity away. You will only spend the deens on medicin. Best of luck honestly!!

there are actually a bunch of psychiatrists in Kuwait. Most work at the Psychological Medicine Hospital, our only psychiatric hospital. The head of the Dept of Psychiatry, Dr. Abdullah Ghloum, is Canadian-trained and has some expertise in child psychiatry too. Other Kuwaiti psychiatrists have recently returned from Canada and the UK.

Yeah, there is the Psychiatric Hospital. I tried going there once as a feeble last attempt to actually get treated. I met with an African doctor there. He wasn't of any help. He actually stopped responding to my emails and he never picks up his phone. That might be because I told him that I needed treatment without opening a file at the hospital. Unforetunately, opening a file at the Psychiatric Hospital (AKA "The loony bin" can be used against you in a court of law here in Kuwait. Even if you're getting treated for ADD you are still technically "of ill mental health". Officially, because its on signed government records. But the brightside is if you commit murder and you have a file there then you don't go to jail because "officially" YOU CRAZY!

Yeah, so I've given up hope of getting any real treatment here in Q8.

I also tried another psychatirst. I can't remember where he was. Salmiya or maybe Hawally, I can't remember. Anyway, he was Egyptian. And, honestly, he was a complete joke and a waste of time.

Tried a couple of Jokes under false names... You are supposed to feel safe with these assholes instead you leave leave feeling like shit and paranoid. Private is the way to go, but be ready to shell out a couple of thousands for therapy if you can get in. Anonymity is important in a country smaller than new jersey ...especially of you call it home.

Someone told me to go to Emergency department of Psychological medicine hospital and it was no of use. They gave one injection which also did not work.
