work permit or visa? what requirements?

Hello, I'm a tattoo artist from the Philippines. I have a job offer from a NZ tattoo shop, neither me nor my employer knows what to do next. He asked me to check with the immigration, and I'm confused on all different websites for requirements, steps, processing etc.
Also is it possible/cheaper/faster to apply for sponsorship tourist visa, and from NZ I will apply for a work permit/visa instead??? Thanks
