I am being approached to work in Jeddah for a very compelling package. However, I do not want to interrupt my husband's career and have him move over with me. hence I would need to live in Jeddah by myself for two years. Do you think it is possible?
1. How much does it cost to buy a ok quality car in SA?
2. How much does a driver cost per month?
3. Am I allowed to walk on the street by myself?
4. Am I allowed to wear normal clothes not Abaya (with all the respect to the religion)
5. Is there Kennel in Jeddah? as I have a big dog coming with me.
6. Am I allowed to go to restaurant by myself?
I saw many comments to Jeddah with very strict religious rule on female, but I also heard that it has changed alot.I would really love someone can help with with the above!

I will try to answer you :
1. for a good car (4x4 PATROL) it will cost arround 35,000 SAR for a second hand (1 USD = 3,750 SAR).
2. A driver is arround 1,500 SAR / month
3.You are allowed to walk by yourself in the street
4.You are not allowed to wear normal wear in the street (ABAYA is forced)
5. There is some KENNEL very good quality, but to come with dog, check with Saudi Ambassy in your country
6. You are allowed to go restaurant by yourself.

A car is fine but women cant drive in Jeddah anyway !!! I would not come here as a woman on my own. I am here wiht my husband and am a very independant woman but it is very lonely even if you have family with you so on your own would be terrible
Dogs are also considered to be dirty creatures over here, the Saudis frown over them. And it is far too hot for any animal outside in the mid summer up to 45 degrees.....
