is water safe for drinking in South Africa?

Water
Yes in general. Tap water. But if in doubt - Pick and Pay/shoprite and Woolworths sell 5l cans of water. At Dischem you can buy a waterpurification system that connects to your tap.

Yes, the quality of tap water is often better than that of bottled water.
