  • Professional Arabic teacher

I am applying to teach Arabic at your school because I would like to achieve more professional goals. I believe that I have the skills and qualifications for this job. First of all, Arabic language is my native tongue, and I have been successful as an Arabic teacher in the United States of America. I am looking forward to increasing my teaching experience.

To improve professionally, I was selected by American Councils for International Education to be a participant of the Teachers of Critical Languages Program. I am currently teaching Arabic language at Scott’s Branch High School in Summerton, South Carolina. My manager, Ben Dunbar, has described me as the best teacher he has ever had because of the innovative methodologies I use in teaching Arabic. To improve the Arabic program at my school, I applied and received a $ 5,000 grant from American Councils for International Education. I implemented an Arabic Culture Club at SBHS to expand and increase future learners of the Arabic language.

Furthermore, I have become familiar with using modern technology in teaching Arabic as a foreign language. I can use the most advanced technology in teaching; computers, laptops, internet, promethean boards, etc. I have great determination to apply what I have learned in the United States to my classroom at your school.

I was selected by the Ministry of Education in Egypt to attend a training program for teachers at Northumbria University in 2007. I studied the National Curriculum of the United Kingdom and adapted all the innovative activities and methodologies into my repertoire of teaching strategies. I was successful at Northumbria University and I wrote a project proposal on Experiential Learning.

I have experience teaching English as a foreign language in Egypt. I was evaluated as an excellent teacher in the yearly report during the last four years. For my education, I graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Tanta University in 2003 with the general grade,” GOOD”. I graduated from the Faculty of Education, Alexandria University in 2000 with the general grade “GOOD”. I am a member of the Educational Syndicate for Teachers where I assist in designing professional development for teachers.

Socially, I am a member of the Environment Protection and Children Welfare Association in Egypt. I volunteered in activities to keep the environment clean and serve the society. I participated in conferences designed to connect education with society and integrate the environment into the curriculum.

To improve professionally as a teacher in the United States of America, I attended ACTFL 2008 Annual Convention and World Languages Expo in November 2008 in Orlando, Florida. I attended and passed an induction class in Clarendon School District One for training teachers. I studied Harry Wong’s The First Days of School which was one of the best books for beginning and experienced teachers. I studied Classroom Motivation from A to Z. I attended numerous workshops designed to integrate art and the environment into the curriculum, motivate cooperative learning strategies, and setting high expectations for students. I uploaded innovative lesson plans and classroom activities on American Councils website. Please, visit www.americancoucils.org and view the Teachers of Critical Languages Program.

In conclusion, I am applying for teaching Arabic language at your school because I would like to grow professionally, exchange experience, and adapt the innovative methodologies I learned in the United States to my classroom. I am looking forward to an innovative cultural exchange and to continue professional and academic development. I look forward to a new experience and bringing Arabic language to life at your school.
