With prices in the Western Cape now beyond the reach of some people and Garden Route prices increasing too, more buyers are looking to the coasts either side of Durban and prices are expected to rise imminently, although predicting what will happen to the property market is a reliable way to make yourself look foolish. The same data can be open to very different interpretation: for example, some people think that the strengthening rand will lead to an imminent reduction in the number of foreign property buyers in South Africa, while others believe that the stronger rand will boost confidence in the South African economy and attract more foreigners to buy.
