I do not speak German; however, I intend to take some classes and become very proficient once I move there.

My fiancee is German and that is where we intend to marry and raise our family. One word of advice to you all.
Try learning some basic german BEFORE you go to germany!
It will make it a lot easier for you to start out there. And it is much more likely to get a job.
But keep in mind, germany has currently quite a high unemployment rate. So don't think it will be easy to find a job.
Knowing some basic german will also help while interacting with german government agencies/local authorities. German bureaucracy is hell and the people working there are often not very helpful and don't speak english.
