Growing demand for cheap international calling services has pushed Just Landed to find new easy to use solutions to stay in touch with friends and family overseas.
There are several ways to make cheaper international calls. Calling cards are one option, direct dial services are another. Direct dial services mean you can make international calls at highly reduced rates without pincodes and without buying credit in advance like is the case with phonecards.
Savings from mobiles phones are even bigger, and give you the option to pre-programme the 902 number which means you can call it automatically from your phonebook without the need to dial the number manually. They have the advantage of being convenient to use and do not require a separate purchase as you are billed on your normal phonebill. Calls from mobile phones to fixed lines in Spain can be even cheaper using the 902 number depending on the calling plan you have with your mobile phone provider.
The reason these services exist is because international calling costs for operators have fallen, but normal phone rates in many countries (including Spain) remain high as there is little competition between existing providers.
They work because operators have been forced by regulators to provide numbers where an operator takes some of the charge and then can use this to terminate the call internationally. In Spain, these are 902 numbers that bill at national call rates (don't get them confused with 906 numbers that are for premium rate calls). With the 902 999 007 service, you can call abroad from €0.04/min from a fixed line & public phone – and €0.22 from mobile phones.
