Qualifications for foreign doctors in Canada -

  • I am a medicine doctor with about 10 years of specialization in oncology. I have heard that validating my professional credentials in Canada is very hard (it could take years to actually be able to charge for my professional services as a doctor) Does anybody have experience in this area? Are there any procedures that can be taken to shorten the validation of foreign credentials?

After reading all these, I would suggest to the Canadian government, the Canadian people and all the medical councils in Canada to really take a second look at their policies, what are they up to, and to tell the IMG what they should really expect while immigrating to Canada. I believe honesty will be the best solution to all those who are deemed victims of this very inhumane practice in Canada. I believe, I am a victim too. Every body suffers with me. my wife( who is very bitter on me, the children, can not study for ( can not sponsor them for lack of finance. The banks sre not willing to give any loans. What ashame to a so clled advanced, civilized society. Woe on to them

Even in the, so called "third world" countries doctors do not make so many mistakes.

The only reason why the foreign trained doctors are not allowed to practise in Canada is the protectionism of over paid Canadian doctors.

  • Residency

    Hi!
I'm currently a medical student with yeat a few years to go. I am aspiring to migrate to Canada after finishing my studies and intership back home. English is my first language, hence I am fluent in it (scored 8.5 out of 9 in IELTS) and since I'm north European I guess there won't be much of a cultural barrier btwn the society and myself. Given that I pass the Canadian board exams, what sort of difficulties should I expect trying to get a residency?
Pls refrain from bogus comments and loosely founded opinions.
    Thank you

  • Canadian dentist versus romanian dentist

I went to a canadian dentist in my small community with a tooth that has been rebuilt some 15 years when I was in University and I had a abces at now. Afer looking at the x rays he said that it needs to be extracted- "it only takes 5 mins" he said. Then I remembered what the dentist said 15 years back: " you don't pull one tooth out before you try all options- the teeth don't grow back". And so I went all the way to Toronto to see a Romanian dentist licenced to prantice here. She saved my tooth and it feels great to have my original teeth. Do you see my point? An extraction is $250 and takes 5 mins- it is surgery. A root canal treatment and rebuilt cost also $250 but takes 1 1/2 hours- it is standard procedure. Now do you see my point? My wife is a family doctor with experience, all exams passed in Canada and US etc. but the DISCRIMINATION process is very strong and well covered up in diplomacy. "Canadian Standards"- BS.

  • Query regarding need for surgery teacher

    Hi.
I am a General/ laparoscopic surgeon practicing in India. I am very deeply involved in undergraduate surgery teaching for PrePG entrance examination for last 8-9 years (in India there is a entrance test for post graduate course after medical course). I finish complete surgery course in 8-10 days.
I would be greatful if someone can guide me how to contact different Canadian medical institute for taking surgery lectures as I am absolutely sure that students will be benefitted by this.
Do I have to clear some exams? I think, as I wont be dealing with patients so it may not be necessary.
    Thanking in anticipation

  • Less facts

    Well.
It appears that this site is just giving discouraging comments rather than some authentic advice! Can someone give some facts? That would help. Pakistanis have good English especially those who have passed IELTS test with good scores (like myself). We heard that Canadian govt is encouraging foreign doctors to immigrate to canada. So it is imperative that the govt makes some relaxations in rules in order to encourage doctors to migrate to canada and also be able to practice their profession rather than driving cabs

  • one of the worst country for doctors is Canada

Guys,Be careful. There are so many foreign doctors with the Canadian licence. They have passed EE,QE1 AND QE2.I know one so many foreign doctors driving a truck, cleaning ducts, security jobs.gas stations even after passing their 3 canadian exams. The medical council of canada and the canadian government has no shame to punish doctors to this extent. One of the South-African dude in this forum was complaning about his licence when he was actually allowed to see patients after just passing EVALUATING EXAM.LOLOLOL.That was a joke.I have the last QE2 and giving my step 3.I am giving my step3 and trying many other countries.Stay in your respective country, fly to Canada for exams and apply for residency or a work till things work out.We asian doctors find these exams pretty simple and one of my friends from south-africa failed his FIRST EVALUATION EXAM TWICE AND WHEN HE PASSED IT DURING HIS THIRD ATTEMPT,HE WAS ALLOWED TO PRESCRIBE and asian doctors pass all the three exams with a smashing score and they can't presribe.LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.This country is a joke.
