Switzerland is a shithole, why don't you go somewhere in the EU instead.
Have you already got a work permit for switzerland? These days it's almost impossible for a non-EU person to get a swiss work permit for a company.
cost of living: Too high
living in switzerland: people are anti-social, not very friendly and customer service is really pathetic (they will refuse to speak anything other than their shitty local dialect)
Hi,
I am from India as well. I have completed my PhD in UK. I have got a job as a R&D Scientist in a company in Switzerland. The company has applied for work permit on my behalf. Would it be very difficult for the company to get work permit for me, even though I have PhD and my job is highly relevant to my qualifications. Kindly advise, as am very concerned after seeing your post. If it is a big problem to get work permit in Switzerland, I would rather go with the offer in UK which but I have to do soon and I cant wait until I hear the result from swiss authority. If am going to wait for too long...i would loose the offer from UK as well...so I have to decide soon about the UK offer...So kindly reply
i don't know, it depends on what your swiss employer wrote as a recommendation to the Foreigners Police as well as the Federal Office of Immigration in Bern (BFM). It is quite likely that they will require that the company advertises the post and interviews people from the EU/Switzerland first before they can consider hiring you. Maybe, though, if you have a PhD, or good "connections," they can consider you highly skilled, but I don't know, because they have to Prove that they have first interview other people from Europe first.
It is VERY hard to predict what they will do, Swiss authorities have very poor communication with each other and depends on who is reading your file in Bern.
