We currently interested in motivated individuals who are looking at getting hand-on experience in young new media business. The following documentation explains the internship opportunities we offer, our requirements and the application procedure.
Requirements
- Excellent level of written English
- Excellent level of writing in your native language.
- Ability to use Word, Excel, Outlook (or other email client)
- Understanding of how websites work (from a practical, not necessarily technical point of view)
How we run internships
We prefer to develop an internship programme specific to each individual based on:
- His/her specific interests
- What he/she identifies as objectives for the internship
- The duration of the internship
Interns are also expected to help out with some boring day-to-day tasks that businesses have to deal with.
Some examples of internship areas
- Writing a Just Landed guide and launching a new country
- Running a marketing and sales campaign to a specific target segment
- Community and content development for a specific country
- Translating a Just Landed guide (intern must be a native speaker of the target language)

Internship Position 1: Launch a new territory
The objective of this internship is to launch a new territory for the company. You will be provided with a template and guidance on the steps to take, and supported throughout the process. Tasks will include:
- Market research and evaluation for the territory.
- Scheduling and planning the launch.
- Writing a guide and/or finding, pitching and doing deals with content partners to create one.
- Organising internal review and production. Scheduling translation and managing it, if applicable.
- Learning how to use a content management system and then publishing the new territory.
- Completing pre-launch steps.
- Launch and follow-up activities.
You will get to see a complete launch process from start to finish and get valuable experience in terms of what it means to take a product to market.
Internship Position 2: Advertising Marketing & Sales
This is a pure sales position for individuals wanting to get real-world experience of direct marketing and sales. This internship would include the following elements:
- Review and explication of the current marketing collateral, sales processes and approach.
- Coaching on how to target, prepare, execute and follow-up a direct marketing campaign.
- Launch of several targeted marketing campaigns into different sectors.
- Follow-up on generated leads.
- Direct customer contact (by phone), negotiation and closing.
- Implementation of closed campaigns for the customer, follow-up and reporting.
The idea is to give an intern a taste of what the business development process is like and get them out there to turn theory into practice when it comes to business generation. Any successes in terms of deals closed by an intern will be shared with him/her on a generous commission basis. In our experience a motivated and capable individual should be able cover their living costs without any problems. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any guarantees. We cannot accept to work with anyone who will be forced to rely on their own success to survive.
Internship Position 3: Product Development
This is a business/technical position where you would be directly involved in the release cycle of the website. Tasks will range from functionality specification, bug tracking, release planning, review, test to actual development. You need to have a good dose of the following skills:
- *NIX administration (FreeBSD a bonus)
- PHP
- MySQL
- HTML, JavaScript, CSS et al.
You might not have formal qualifications – this is not a problem – but you will need to have the basic blocks of knowledge in place to be able to learn effectively in this position. For majors in non-technical areas who have picked up some technology, this could be a great opportunity to learn in a real-world environment and broaden your skills-set. When applying to this position, please add a list of web projects you have worked on so far (if possible with live URLs) and a detailed description of your part in these projects.
Internship Position 4: Online Marketing
Responsible for running a range of activities to increase the online visibility of the Company, including:
- Online community development and management (in particular forums and classifieds).
- Participation in the development process for new community-oriented functionality.
- Outbound partner development to increase the presence of the company on other websites.
- Content development.
- Link development.
- Analysis and reporting of site use to identify positive and negative trends and turn these into recommendations for further activity.
This internship will give hands-on experience of both the strategic and practical side of developing a website’s online marketing. As well as implementing current activities, you will be expected to come up with new ideas, be creative and drive new initiatives.
Internship Position 5: Writer/Editor
You will be assigned a specific country (or countries) to attack with the following process:
- Evaluate the current content, identify positive and negative aspects and detail out what is missing or needs fixing.
- Plan and prioritize content work.
- Contact potential external contributors (existing and/or new) and work with them for content production. Edit copy and publish it.
- Organize and manage translation activity (if applicable).
- Research, write and publish articles.
- Learn how to use an online content management system and publish in a live production environment.
This internship will give practical experience of the content lifecycle for online publishing. Having responsibility end-to-end for taking content onto a live site will highlight the challenges and requirements for online media and give a strong grounding in some important skills.
