More on immigration experts

  • I saw another posting in the long discussion regarding immigration to Canada on immigration experts.

I think one way of "certifying" how knowledgeable they are is by seeking references from their previous clients. Think of it as if you were seeking a contractor to build an extension of your house. In that thought process, you will shop around, compare references, prices, credentials, etc.

In many cases the immigration "expert" is also signing the application forms as a "preparer". If they sign government documents with you, they could also be liable. However, you as the applicant have much more to loose. You want to come to live in Canada and if you get in trouble with the law BEFORE coming to Canada, you can kiss good bye your intentions of becoming a landed immigrant or permanent resident in Canada
