The documents you need to finish the BULSTAT registration are a copy of the Commerce Register registration and the identification document of the company owner.
BULSTAT registration cost between 15 and 70 BGN (€7-35).
Once you have a BULSTAT number you have to register with the National Insurance Institute. The documents you need to present there are a copy of the Commerce Register registration, the BULSTAT number and the identification document of the owner.
The last step is registering for taxes. You need to bring the Commerce Register registration, the BULSTAT code, a document from the National Insurance Institute and the identification document of the owner to an office of the National Income Agency.
There have been changes in legislation according to which the last two steps of the registration occur automatically with the obtaining of the BULSTAT code, but you should still check after you have registered for your code.
If you choose to hire a consultancy firm to do this for you, you will pay an additional amount of €300 (max.) in fees, but you will avoid complications.
After the company has started operating, managers of companies in Bulgaria shouldn’t forget to file declarations with the National Income Agency and submit the employees’ monthly insurance payments.
Financial Aid from the Bulgarian Government
The greater part of financial aid that the government offers is related to EU programs. A big percent of government aid goes to supporting unemployed people or students who wish to start a business. Companies which offer public services - health care, education, etc. can also apply for funding if they meet all the requirements.
Companies may be eligible for financing if they choose to participate in a governmental project. Find out more information on the Ministry of Finance website.
