one year
the international driver's license is valid for a year. It is not valid to get insurance on a car that you plan to own. You can only use it for renting cars.
If you want to buy a car, you need to have a driver's license issues by one of the Canadian provicesAnonymous 15 Nov 2005, 04:06 - Report -

Having ID while you drive
Depending on your country of origin you may need to carry your passport while you drive in Canada. You can also apply for a Provincial ID, but you will not get it unless you are a student on a visa, a temporary worker with a working visa, etc.
