not working while living in Canada

  • i spent 12 months living and working in Vancouver, it was a working holiday visa for a non-student. I met my partner 2 months after being there. I am now back in the UK. I have been over since i got back and plan to go in the next months. for him to sponsor me as 'common-law' partner we must have lived together for 1 yr, we fall short of this by 3 months. I have been advised to go and live over there with him for 1 year, without working, so we can then qualify. I would have to go for 6 months then apply to extend my stay. It frustrates me because all though we have the funds for me not to work, i just cannot imagine not working for a full year, i have been working for 14 years straight. I have been told i cannot apply for another working holiday visa, its only open once to non-students. It just seems such a nightmare, because i am willing to work for that year, but i am not allowed. Kinda frustrating for me. Any ideas? or am i basically stuck with no work for a year when i move there?

  • Volunteer work by Visa-carrying Visitors to Canada

    Hi!

You can perform volunteer work for the many recognized organizations in Canada.

It will depend on being accepted by the organization, and proving your visa-carrying status upon aproval.

It's also a great way to log some much sought-after 'canadian' experience.
