Stubborn French

  • Hi I am an American who is thinking about taking a term abroad in Paris. I am a little intimidated because I hear the French are very stubborn/rude and don't coorportate with foreigners trying to speak French. Anyone know how true this is??

    Hi American boy,

I don't know if that's true but I can tell you that I'm French and I'm not like that at all. I am happy to help any foreigners who try to speak French or need a little help.
I think what you heard might come from the fact that not many French people speak English and so it's more difficult for foreigners to communicate.

  • Maybe it depends on the region of France

I'm not sure, but having French ancestors from Bordeaux who were quite stubborn, I tend to think French stubborness might depend on the region they come from. I'm not sure.
