Bank Account (Erasmus)

  • Opening a bank account in Germany
Next September I am going to Germany. I will be there for 10 months (studyng). Now I must fill in the residence formular, pay three months in advance and... give them the number of a bank account in Germany.
The problem is I have no bank account there. I have tried to open one in a Deutsche Bank branche here in Spain, but since it is DB S.A.... the account is spanish.
What can I do?? I am supposed to have a german bank acount in 10 days!!!
    Thanks,

  • Try Citibank

As far as I know, you can open an international account there. The other option is to open an online account, for example at Consors or Comdirect.

  • Banking hassle

    Two options

    i) you give the residence a international bank account number IBAN XXXXXX and tell the residence you will update the details when your German account is operational.

ii) ask Deutsche Bank to organise you a German account from wherever you are - if you smile and ask nicely, there should be no reason they should not help you.
