Work permit for foreign students after studies

  • Hi !

I'm told, there is a new german immigration law allowing foreign students to remain in Germany to search for a job after their studies.
Do you mind giving me more infos about that?

  • You find the new immigration law here

Hi! I don't know about any clause on students in the new German immigration law, but maybe you can find out yourself. Try out this link for an overview of the new law: http://www.integrationsbeauftragte.de/download/ZuwanderungsgesetzUebersicht.pdf

  • You can extend your permit by one year

Hi! According to the new law, you can extend your residence permit for one year after you've finished your studies. Note that this is NOT a work permit, but it allows you to stay in Germany to search for a job after university. If you find a job, you (or your employer) will then have to apply for a work permit, which will be granted according to the normal procedure.

It's not a perfect solution, but at least it's easier to at least find a job while you're still in Germany... Good luck!!!
