what is it like living in japanese dorms?

hey all. going to japan to study in the fall (september). has anyone lived in a japanese dorm? do you get single rooms or do you have a roommate? also do international students live near each other usually or are they separated? anyone have any experiences

When I studied in Tokyo they grouped the internationals together. It was nice to be near other English-speakers - helped me make friends while I improved my Japanese.
