Australian with EU spouse - is a work permit required ?

Hello, I am Australian with German spouse. I have a medium term work contract in Luxembourg and would like to know...
1)Whether I am required to obtain a work permit?
2)Does my employer need to support this?
3)Are applications lodged with the Lux Embassy?
