Living cost in Amsterdam

  • I've got an ERASMUS scholarship for studying in Amsterdam for half a year, but I only get 400 Euros per months. I heard that accomodation is really expensive in Amsterdam, so I wonder how much money I will need to survive in Holland. How much do I have to pay for a room in a shard flat (more or less)? Or are there any student residences with cheaper rents? Thanks for your help!

  • Amsterdam living costs

Living in Amsterdam and in Holland in general is not cheap. Fortunately it is cheaper thatn other European countries though. Amsterdam is more expensive that the rest of the Netherlands, however only for rent.

The cost of living in Amsterdam depends a lot on your lifestyle as well. You can find shared rooms from 250 euro's upwards, however you will be living in a shithole, excuse my French. I live in Amsterdam for a few years, and must say that if you want to live reasonable, you will end up spending approximately 800 - 1200 euro's a month.

    Hope this helps!
