Travelling around KSA

  • Hi All,
I am short-listed for a job in Riyadh, I am single (55yo)and look forward to the change of lifestyle offered in KSA.
One of my interests is travel and culture. What are the restrictions on travelling within KSA, and also leaving KSA for week-end breaks, eg to Dubai.
    John

forget it.. You have to handover your passport when you arrive in KSA. YOu cant even leave city without permission. If you wish to tavel outside you need permission from your sponsor and if you want to leave KSA, you need to handover your permit and again need permission plus exit visa ... Going on weekend will remain a dream

    John,

travel around Saudi is quite easy provided you have a residence permit (Iqama) and a car. For professional people, there is no question of sponsors holding passports etc. and you keep your passport and get a multiple exit re-entry visa allowing you to go for weekends to Dubai, Egypt, Oman etc.. From Riyadh there are a lot of places you could take day trips, and weekendable overland destinations include Al Khobar, Bahrain, Jeddah and the Red sea coast.

For longer trips, if you have a 4WD vehicle you can go on extended trips out into the desert..
