Is it save to travel alone in South Africa?

  • I'm a 22 year old blond girl from Ireland and I would like to travel around South Africa for a couple of weeks on my own. However, I'm not sure whether this is really safe. Any advice?

  • Traveling solo in S.A.

Hi, S.A. is a lovely, warm, friendly and beautiful country with alot of diversity, BUT I will never travel by myself or go backpacking solo - rather find a tour operator to take you through. My opininon is that it is not safe to travel alone as there are dangerous areas that you need to be informed about.

  • solo travel

Please remember that on average 53 people are murdered every day in South Africa. Thats more than in Iraq which is at war. The rape figures are more than 3 times that. The robberies and muggings are astronomical.
I would hate to encourage you to visit SA and then something awfull happens to you. Play it safe don't go

  • SA

I am a 23 yr old girl and lived in South Africa my whole life. SA is a beautful country. Plan your trip well and stick to your itinerary. Treat SA as you would treat London and you will be fine. There is crime all over the world!!

  • South Africa is safe enough

I am 23 and from the UK, I have a holiday home in Cape Town, and spend a couple of weeks there a year driving myself to different places and feel no risk. It is such an amazing country and I hope to move there one day, yes there is danger as there is every where in the world...but the best advice if you are planning to go alone is to go with a tour operator. My bestfriend just spent a month travelling south africa, she is blonde, beautiful and not that street wise, however she did the whole journey with different tour guides and she felt completely safe and has returned home in one piece.

  • Im inviting you to Morocco

Assou was born in a village which its name is Hassi Labied located in the South East of Morocco. When we talk about the desert of morocco; we are talking about a large desert in the south of Morocco called the Erg Chebbi .We are a group of guides who organize the trips inside Morocco and camel trips here in the desert .
To spend some days in the desert Sahara is a great experience that everyone should have in their life; and at least they will have something to tell for their friends when you come back from your trip here in the desert. Camel trips or camel trekking is a trip that we make by camels (tourist ride camels) in order to spend a night or two in the middle of the desert the heart of Sahara (there are possibilities of camel trips; from a day’s outing to a week bivouac but the local is different depending the number of days spending out ). two hours from the village to the heart of Sahara where there is nothing around; where there is just tents and camels; where you have the possibility to see a sky filled by thousand of million bright stars at night ; and if you are lucky and you find the full moon clear be sure that its magic will take very far from this world .In addition there is a possibility to take pictures of sunsets when we arrive to the high dune, not so far from the tents , the same with sunrise also when you wake up early in the morning .Camel trips are organized by Assou . He can help you to organize your camel trip or you travel in general inside Morocco by giving the appropriate programmes that it is suitable with your holiday.
For more information you can contact Assou: dunas_y_sol at live.fr
With a lot of experience can help you to organize your trip.
Assou can speak English; French and Spanish .

  • Your Color

What does your hair, skin color, and eyes color had to do with traveling along?

You have to be carefull no matter where you go specially to abroad when you most likely do not know their "culture".
