Council housing

  • Hi. I'm hoping someone might know how, as a non-UK resident, you can get access to state-subsidised housing. Any ideas?? All I know is that state housing is known as council housing..

As a non-resident, you will not be able to get access to social housing in the UK. You would first need to be resident to make an application. If you are not an EU citizen, then you will find it difficult to get residency if you do not have a job or funds to support yourself. In either of these cases, you will not qualify for council housing. In many places there are long waiting lists for council housing and you will need to qualify for the all of the criteria to have a chance.
