Question concerning phoning with companies like Crazytel

  • Hi,

i'm going to spend one year in great britain so I'm looking for cheap international calls back to my home in germany.
I have seen the link http://www.crazytel.co.uk and the prizes seem to be very good, but as i'm not a native english, i have some difficulties in understanding the way how to phone with that company!

As far as i have understood the website you can call to germany for 0.6 p.

BUT: What is the procedure like? You need to call that special access number to load one pound on your phone. Calls are made with 0208 497 0001.
How much is it to call this number? is it free when i'm calling from landline? What about an pay-as-you-go card from orange?

I hope anybody can explain me how this works and wether the only costs are really 0.6 p! this would be great.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

This is the deal. You need to recharge your mobile number from a BT landline. (I suggest if you don't have one yourself, then ask a friend that's got a BT landline to use his phone and give him a pound, by the way, check out the FAQ's. There is also a £1.50 recharge number)

Most people in the UK have mobile contracts which give them a certain number of free minutes per month or landline contracts (packages) that do the same. If you call the 0208 number using these packages, then the charge is no more then 0.06p.

Since you are using an orange pay as you SIM, it would cost you the rate of a call to an 020 number on orange (usually about 15p) plus the 0.06p per minute.

Ask orange how much they charge you to call the 0208 and add that to the 0.06p It might still be much much cheaper then calling Germany direct.

If you have any more questions, just call the help line.

    Good Luck!

Unfortunately you have not been told it could cost you 5p to make a call at 0.6p The number is not a freephone number
