Emergencies

Israeli emergency services and numbers

Israel has a sophisticated emergency response system which is on par with many Western countries. Ambulances stabilize patients and transport them to hospitals. Hospitals readily accept all emergency patients.

Magen David Adom (MDA) is Israel's emergency response society. They provide initial emergency services and transport patients to hospitals and staff over 1,200 emergency medical personnel. MDA responds to major emergencies in six to seven minutes.

In an emergency, hospitals and emergency medical centres will accept all injured people irrespective of health fund. If you are unemployed and do not have insurance, you will be billed for emergency services. For all other health concerns, see one of your trust's clinics or hospitals.

If there is an emergency, know these basic words: atsiloo (help), srefah (fire), and ambulans (ambulance).

Emergency numbers

Police: dial 100

Ambulance: dial 101

Fire: dial 102

Poison control: dial 4 854 1900 (this number is helpful if your two-year old just swallowed a bottle of bleach!)
