Can somebody help?

• I have a friend who has had a visitors visa to canada to come and see his family. he has since been here for 8 mths and his visa is now expired. He is looking to stay in canada and has even been offered work here. As far as i am aware you are not allowed to work without a legal work permit.... I guess my question is is it possible for him to apply for a permanent resident status and work permit with out being deported because he is expired?

  first thing he has to do is to apply for a work permit with his work offer. As far as I know he can stay in canada till he knows if the government approves or denies his application.
