Erasmus in Amsterdam

• Hi! I'm a Spanish girl and I'll study in Amsterdam next year. I hope any of you can help me to decide where to live.
  I'll study at the faculty of Science in Kruislaan. I don't know if it would be better to live near the faculty or live in the city centre. How long does it take approximately the way from the faculty to the centre? Where are located the places young people go at night?
