  • Travel a little

Head up to the northern parts of Scotland (the most remote and not coincidentally the most beautiful parts of the UK), and you'll see that many of the signs are in Gaelic. TV programs up there are also in Gaelic. As for anyone only speaking Gaelic and nothing else, I don't know. But surely these languages should be encouraged to live???

  • not important

As a foriegner, you need to know that you wont find peopel in Scotland who wont speak to you in English. Dont worry.

I think its' great people want to preserve thier culture, but it is also importnat to be able to speak to people!

  • Preserve languages

I think it is vital that minority languages should be preserved. Language gives insights into culture. Anyone who has studied a second language will know that many words simply don't translate. The fewer languages in the world, the poorer the human race will be.
