Asking about settlement and citizenship in Austria

  I am Arif Hassan, a student of masters program here in Austria. I would like to study here further and to get settlement permit and then citizenship.
  Could u tell me how can I get it and what can I do for it?

• citizenship by descent

  I believe I am an Austrian citizen by descent from my grandfather, to my father, to me. The proof of citizenship document I downloaded from the Austrian consulate only asks for the names of my father and mother. How difficult is it to get my citizenship confirmed if my father was never registered with the Austrian government? Do I need an Austrian lawyer to help me? The consulate has not been very helpful.
