intelligent finance

  • Hi. I came from Belgium to live in London nearly 2 years ago. Although I had problems settling in, I now am very happy. I set up a bank account with IF, which was a pain at first as it is an internet bank and so has no physical branches. However, it was worth the effort. Moving money around online is so easy, and because online banks save money by not having branches, you get a higher rate of interest on your savings. So, to all those of you setting up bank accounts in the UK, I would recommend you open up an account with an internet bank. blunk

I totally agree that IF is a great bank. I've been using a saving account and an ISA with them, whilst also having a current account with HSBC. I think this is a good mix, as you can easily shift money between your accounts, and so benefit from IF's high rates of interest. Whilst u also get the physical presence of branches for your current account.

Top bank. Recommended. But also worth spreading any financial risks, and have at least one other account, especially if you're talking about savings rather than just current accounts.

i am not sure there is much risk with if - they are fully insured and now a big organisation.
