Tourist/student visas to the UK

• Hi,
  
  I was rejected a tourist visa to the UK once, will that affect my student visa to the uk? Also, they gave me the right to appeal the rejection, they said they nneed evidence that I will come back after my stay. What xactly are they looking for besides letter of employment in my home country?
