Housing in Graz

• Is it possible to find an apartment for less than a three year period? I am moving to Graz on a three month trial but most likely will not stay longer than 1 year but it seems that wherever you look you have to sign a contract for three years.
  
  Is it possible to sign a contract and get out of the contract after 1 year?

• shorter term is possible

  Accoridng to my knowledge, rental contracts in Graz (and whole Austria) can of course be shorter term than 3 years. It is just that the proprietors want longer term to have less hassle. SO it depends on your negotiation skills to get a contract for less time.

  Thank you for that information. As I mentioned I will be in Graz, if you know of any estate agents or contacts please do let me know. Do you know if estate agents will give you a shorter lease or is it only if you do it independently. My problem is the language barrier and was hoping to go through an estate agent
