Work in the European Commission

  • I am looking for an internship in the European Commission and I know it's almost impossible. Any tricks on how I might achieve this? Would a reference from somebody in the inside help?

... the best way is if you have a "connection", but there is also the official application processes which take forever and give you a minimal chance of getting in.

But honestly: What do you want there? Unless you wanna get some first hand experience on bueraucratic waste of time, I'd probably rather look for a different internship ;o)

  • Call up the commission

This might sound stupid, but I have a friend who made a call and eventually got an internship. She was interested in a particular activity (this also matched her education), so she called up the department and just explained. She convinced the person she got to talk to that she was serious, and this led to an internship. There are positions, so try and create some 'connections' even if you don't have them. This can work.
