Feedback from expat Families in Kuwait

  • The last thread started getting off the subject of living in Kuwait and has moved onto tarting around in Kuwait, so thought I'd start a new one. I'd love to hear from expat families who are working/living in Q8 (to use the new abbreviation). Particularly "trailing spouses" with young children. How has meeting others been, where do you find them, what are the schools like, the grocery shopping (meat, poultry etc), getting around - ie is driving as maddening as i'm let to believe, how do you find leaving young children/babies with maids as babysitters, is there a network of mum's and where do they go to meet (ie are there indoor playcentres as i imaging parks would get too hot for babies and younger kids). Looking forward to hearing from you.

People here have live-in maids take care of their children and some people prefer leaving their children at a babysitting place where children are in groups. It makes them feel safer. It depends. You might just meet anyother mother and start talking to her and bla bla like these two ladies, they just sat in a hospital waiting room full of people and they started talking and went on and on and on and come on they shouldnt talk that much others get annoyed of blabberings!! Anyways back to the topic, so thats the stuff that you have to consider after other important stuff like where your child is going to spend the most of the time. If babysitter, you can meet the mothers of fellow kids of your child and probably same goes for school.

Hi! Why don't you check out www.urood.com?

They have different categories like "real estate", "for sale" and "jobs". Maybe you will find what you are looking for.

Everything you hear is spot on BUT there are good things as well. The biggest piece of advice is ARRANGE YOUR CHILDS SCHOOLING BEFORE YOU GET HERE, primary positions are very hard to find in a good school.
