American Family Moving to Riyadh from California

Hi All,

My husband found work in Riyadh we will be moving from Irvine, California probably in May. I have a 6 yr old and a 2 yr old. Does any one know of any cargo services, I need to send our stuff (kids toys, clothes, books, etc. NO furniture). Also is there more then one American compound in Riyadh. Is the American embassy school located in the compound.

American/International School is NOT inside the Diplomatic Quarter

Hi there -

I'm not in Riyadh yet but I'm moving this July with a 3-year-old. Sorry I can't help you with a cargo handler, but I can tell you that the American/International School is NOT inside the Diplomatic Quarter where all the embassies are. There's apparently no schools inside, but there are buses from the western compounds to the biggest schools.

Hello

I lived in Saudia Arabia for six months long time ago. I had quite an experience there! I lived in a compound in Riyadh visited to a lot of places including the desserts. If I had a chance to go back there, I would but I wouldn't go back there to live again. It's very hot there and when I was there I missed out on a lot what was going in the states. I still have lots of memories and even found my friends on the internet whom I met in Saudia Arabia. I wish I could find my friend who's from Lebanon. When I left Saudia Arabia I heard he moved back to Lebanon.

well you have the FEDEX or the DHL or the saudi arabian airlines cargo, regardng schools i don't have a full information but as far as i know there are more than 2 or 3 schools and i think thier is a school located in the embassy but im not that sure because i live inside riyadh airbase's compound and we have schoools and i'v ben in side a british compound and they have inside the compund a large school..

I'm a saudi native female who lives in Riyadh, u can send them by Fedex, there are plenty of compounds in Riyadh and the best of them are the Kingdom compound and Jadawel Compound, no there are no schools located in compounds, the American Int School is in khreis st. which is probably in Exit 9 (nt sure bout the exit but im sure bout the street) u can call the school and ask about the directions, to take their number u either visit their website or call the school( u can take the number from the information, the info number in saudi is 905 ) hope that was helpful

Hi all!
Next fall, I will be transferred to Riyadh city.
I will work for an Western "international institution".
So, just now, I started to search an accomodation inside a compound.
If I have well understand, there is a diplomatic quarter and others "Western compounds" in Riyadh.
May be, someone can already help me telling me if they are some "compounds on line" or where find some e-mails to establish a first contact with theirs managers.
