Info on getting married in Italy and applying for italian citizenship

• Hi there!!! I'd like to know that what would be the status of someone who visit italy on a 3 month vist or sponsor visa and then get married in italy to an italian citizen? then would he be able to stay there in italy for 6 months that he will become able to apply for italian citizenship? (because in order to apply for italain citizenship after marreid to an italian citizen you must live in italy for 6 months, but I've only 3 months sponsor visa) I don't have any information on this that when you visit italy on a sponsor visa and you've your fiance there and you got married to her then what would be your status there and then what will be the rocess to obtain the italian citizenship? If someone would guide me through this I'd be very thankful to you.
