  • Hey, P

St. George is the patron saint of England. It is celebrated on the 23rd April, but is not as popular as the St Patrick's Day. Some people on this forum claim that there is some sort of shadowy, clandestine movement out to spoil their St. Georges Day fun; the truth is that it's never been celebrated emphatically.

  • just wondering

see, i read a lot of comments in these forums and i understood that somehow muslims are offended by the celebration of st georges day.
the way wikipedia describes it, there seems to be no reason for them to get offended. it seems to me like it is just a day english people remember their patron saint.
my question is : how exactly do you celebrate st geogres day? why is it offending the muslims?

Like I said, St. George's Day is not celebrated to the extent that St. Patrick's Day is. Some people might put up a flag or have a few beers in the local pub, but that's about it, really. There's the odd parade, here and there, but it's pretty low key, in general.

The overwhelming majority of Muslims do not care whether it's celebrated, or not. They've never really been accepted in Britain by the white majority, so they don't really associate themselves with the idea of 'Britishness', and why should they? There may be a few Muslims who don't like St. Georges Day because certain individuals use it as an excuse to be openly racist.

Bullcrap, Muslims attack St. Georges day in the very same way that they attack the ideal of celebrating Christmas. That is why certain councils have either 1 - Stopped any kind of funding towards St. Georges day celebrations or 2, outright banned the parades all together. This is also why many councils have stopped putting up lights and decorations during the Christmas holidays or, changed the name to something that is not religious and called them, Winter Lights.
The reason Muslims get offended by these things is basically because they are against Islam. Anything that is not actually Islam is against Islam. British people get pissed off about this kind of thing, because whilst Muslims who live in the UK are allowed to celebrate their faith and festivals without question, or at least if there is any question it is considered racist, The English are not, and are constantly having their culture erased under the banner of Multiculturalism, an incorrectly used term to say the least, as how can somewhere be classed in that way, when the very essence of the native culture is being destroyed.
Dylan refers to a clandestine shadowy movement out to destroy their fun, well Dylan, I take it that you mean the Liberal thinking government in the UK and those who blindly follow them, because thats who is doing it, theres plenly of material and news stories available on the internet for you to look at on this matter.

  • Explanation of St.Georges Day

St.Georges day is a time when we prepare curries for our neighbours. It is an old gesture to show our love for one and other. We pray to Kali in the evening and we all wear orange turbans and sing and dance to Punjabi MC.It is the greatest day of the year and we finnish the day by grabbing 10 year old blond girls and shagging them hard up the ass!

How many St. George's Day celebrations have actually been cancelled? How many of these events were because of Islam? Duh....typical, ignorant racist morons...you've proved my point re. racists using the day to openly espouse racist crap.

The main problem is not Muslim complaining of such things as St. Georges day. Most really could not give a f**k. Obviously there will be a few, who, are more along the extremist line along with terrorists, but they are very few and far between.
No, the real problem with all of this sits on the doorstep of people in power in the UK. There's so much effort and thought put into Political Correctness these days, as most people know who live in the UK, it's gone far beyond common sense, some of the most ridiculous things happen in the name of PC and also Health and Safety.
Ever since the USA got hit on 9/11, and London 7/7, a great deal of attention is paid to what may offend an ethnic group. Now this is all well and good in one sense, but not in another. The sad fact is that far too often, people with the ability to make drastic changes to policy in the UK, do so without bothering to research and actually ask the people who they are trying to protect, in this case, Muslims. Ask most British Muslims about Christmas and if it offends them and their answer will be No, most certainly not. And the same thing applies to all these other things. What needs to happen is both Muslims and White Brits need to stand together and let the Government know what idiots they are sometimes, and what tension is caused amongst certain sections of the white population when they do things like this. I feel sorry for the Muslims, they take shit from people who are just down right racist, and as Dylan say, have never been embraced by quite a lot of White Brits. They take shit for the minority of extremists within their communities and around the world. And to top it off end up taking shit for things that they never asked to be changed in the first place.
The UK really needs a good kick up the backside, the government for adopting it's position, and the people for allowing them to do it, time after time.

  • Please celebrate St George's Day

St George's day is a day long forgotten in England but is being given a new lease of life thanks to people such as London mayor Boris Johnson. It is a day when people of English standing should all come together and celebrate St George (even if he is fictional)....A bank holiday on this day would be a great gesture from the powers that be, this would free up the English public, so that street parties could be organized...just like the old days!!!

We even have an online bingo site getting in on the act - bingo Live 365 have a Team bingo event on St George's Day afternoon....

Now!! Lets get our thinking caps on and enjoy ourselves this coming Thursday!!!

  • "muslim brit" lol

no such thing as a muslim brit, as they themselves would agree. their allegiance is first to their paedo prophet, and secondly to their parents' country of origin. most muslims i know take steps to avoid any kind of integration.

  • Duhhh??

Cancellation of St. George's Day celebrations has nothing to do with complaints from Muslims. Also, most of your comments re. Islam and muslims are completely misguided. What a set of dumb twats you are!
