I have had differing opinions
Would be very gratefull for any feedback

Re property could someone please guide us in the right direction for best quality private schools to cover both age groups.

There are new rules being brought into Kuwait on the matter of driving licence issue, it is now a requirement that the driver earns over a certain amount. This is an important subject that you must discuss with the company that is employing you (or your spouse, I'm presuming that you're not the employee).

Yes women can drive here.

Private schools are available in Kuwait dependant upon your locale and nationality requirements.

My blog has some general info/opinions which may help.

• moving to kuwait...maybe

Hi Gilly
If you get any information on living in Kuwait, would love if you could share it with me as I'm finding that info on expat life there is hard to come by. Where do expats live? What are the preferred schools (i'm australian and there is no australian school and my son is 4 and due to start school next year in Australia)? Trailing spouse (mother) communities and social networks...anything to alleviate my concerns would be great. my email is [email removed]
thanks

• Schools in Q8

Hi Gilly! I got to know the educational system there quite well and I hope my suggestions will help you. If you want to take your children to a good school, try The New English School in Jabryia, The English School (TES) in Salmyia or Montessori School in Slawa. The rest = great money factories. I know a case (a school in Salwa) where teachers go to work with hang overs caused by partying heavy drinking and/or smoking pot (in the best case). Most schools are just a great business for the Arab owners and the parent will never find out about the lack of structure within the school, the great number of children in a group, the awful hygiene and the unskilled teaching staff that are more interested in gossiping one another than taking care of your child's developement. In general the principals will fawn all over you and show you the imaginary positive parts of the school, just to take your money, but they are very skilllful when it comes to covering up the flaws. I only want to show you the reality, not discourage you. I know for sure that the 3 schools I mentioned are professional. Even if you reside in a different area than these schools, you can always drive, and since Q8 is so small, it shouldn't be a problem.
Best of luck!

• BSK

Any views on The British School of Kuwait? Would love to hear from other parents and/or teachers who have had experience with this school. We're from Australia, and since there is no Aussie school yet, we're most interested in the british system which is most similar to ours (no "zee" in our alphabet!!).
Thanks

I am also an Australian mother of a soon to be 5 year old following my husband there in the next few months. BSK is by the far the best chioce for our Aussie kids. We will be starting our daughter there in November.

• BSK or TES

It probably just a matter of opinion. BSK has a great reputation and we have had a lot of feedback from others with children attending. TES is a primary school only so a lovely little community. They are fully booked for 2008 though so that narrows it all down a bit doesnt it!

• interested in info

I am moving to Kuwait, and am a spouse of an expat. I am interested in learning about the schools, as I am a Montessori teacher. I have not made up my mind if I want to teach in Kuwait or take a break for a year or so. Any information would be helpful. If you do not want to post any info here, you can email me personally at [email removed]
