Hi Gilly! I got to know the educational system there quite well and I hope my suggestions will help you. If you want to take your children to a good school, try The New English School in Jabryia, The English School (TES) in Salmyia or Montessori School in Slawa. The rest = great money factories. I know a case (a school in Salwa) where teachers go to work with hang overs caused by partying heavy drinking and/or smoking pot (in the best case). Most schools are just a great business for the Arab owners and the parent will never find out about the lack of structure within the school, the great number of children in a group, the awful hygiene and the unskilled teaching staff that are more interested in gossiping one another than taking care of your child's developement. In general the principals will fawn all over you and show you the imaginary positive parts of the school, just to take your money, but they are very skilllful when it comes to covering up the flaws. I only want to show you the reality, not discourage you. I know for sure that the 3 schools I mentioned are professional. Even if you reside in a different area than these schools, you can always drive, and since Q8 is so small, it shouldn't be a problem.
