How to find a flat or a house to rent

Long-term accommodation

Finding long-term rental accommodation in Malta is relatively straightforward. Look around and the process should be relatively stress-free.

Most major estate agents in Malta post available properties and contact details on their websites. They attempt to place tenants with suitable landlords, depending on personal preferences. This means that conflicts between landlord and tenant are less likely to arise. You will need to pay the estate agent's fees.

If you are in Malta and have begun looking for properties, browse the window displays of estate agencies. If you see something you like, simply walk in and make a viewing appointment.

Searching on your own

Another option to find accommodation is to walk in an area you like and to look for “for rent” signs on properties. In these cases, you either phone the number on the sign or walk into the property and ask to speak to someone about a viewing.

You can also look in the classifieds section in Maltese newspapers. The Times of Malta has a considerable classifieds section where many properties are regularly listed.
