Help!! (visas)

  • Hi
I am moving to SA in July with my South African Fiancee and our son - I am British so have been told to apply for a temporary residence permit. I have the application form but they require a signed affidavit and notarial contract to prove I am in a relationship with my partner. Can anyone help with this? I have no idea how to get hold of these or even what the contract is! I have contacted the SA embassy but they won't help me, and have contacted practically every immigration service but no-one can give me an answer! Just want to get it sorted as time is flying by!
Look forward to hearing from ANYONE!!

    Thanks, Sarah

  • I hope this helps

    Hi,
I dont know if this helps at all but usually certified notary people work in banks or any lawyers offices. You could call a random lawyer office and ask them about it. They may charge you but at least you can get it taken care of in time.
I am a US citizen moving to SA where my fiance lives also, so I know your frusteration.

    Good Luck

  • Help with visa

Hi, i am also looking to move to South africa with my son as my South African fiance already lives there. I got told that the best thing to do was to go over on my 3 month temporary residence permit, which you do not need to apply for as you have a british passport, get married within 1-2 months and apply for an extension to the temporary residence as a spouse. I've found that with all my searching this could be the quickest way and the best cjance to get the visa. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your help-thought I'd post to let you know what I did in case it helps you. In the UK there are hardly any Notary Publics, but I tracked one down and called him. We saw him today and he did charge - far too much for just a signature but worth it in the grand scheme of things! I just hope its the right form now!

Good luck to both of you - as I'm at the end of my paperwork battle (nearly) do email me if I can help at all,

  • fiance visa

Hi i am getting married to a russian girl, i am south african, i need to pay a deportation fee or R3410 for a guarantee then fax the russian south african embassy the reciept with my fiance letter. The embassy in russia does not want to accept my reciept they tell me the home affairs in cape town are wrong. And i should pay 2000 dollars. Can any one help me in this regard, i am confused and do not know who is right or wrong, i personally think that the home affairs in cape town word fron a standard list and it is about the amount of a single plain ticket back to russia, R12 000 or 2000 dollars sounds a bit much for me.

I am British and my fiance is south african, living in the uk under the HSMP. He holds a south african passport. We have a 15 month old son who was born in the UK, so holds a British passport. We'd like to get him a south african passport, but so far have been given no useful information and the SA consular website is not very good. Does anyone know how we go about getting one?

  • Guyana Embassy or consulate in South Africa?; Visa requirements for Guyanese citizens

    Hello there Folks,
I am a South African citizen. My fiance arrives in South Africa on 26 May from Guyana and I was told that she does not need visa to be in South Africa for the first 30 days. Is this true? If she just arrives in the country with passport, no visa, will they give her a hard time at customs and immigration on arrival? I am worried because she is very young, inexperienced with travelling as she has never travelled outside Guyana in her life, and she is an extremely simple and timid girl, and so she may easily be pushed around by those often nasty, merciless, barking immigration officials. We plan to be married immediately on her arrival, after which we apply for spousal visa so that she can continue to live with me as my wife here in Johannesburg. but then I need to send her passport, along with our International marriage certificate back to Guyana, in order that she has her surname change in her passport, and recognition of our marriage in Guyana, and that her new passport be sent back to us with as little risk as possible of it being lost! For this we would need to know if there is some Guyana consulate in South Africa that we can liaise with regarding these documents. Or perhaps someone can point us in the right direction on how to manage this one. Even if I have to post her Guyanese passport all the way back to Guyana (which is risky in itself), I have no idea where it should go to in Guyana!
Is there even a Guyana embassy here? Or if not, is there some other country consulate, possibly one of those West indies countries consulates here, which represents and manages Guyana also?

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone might have to offer.

    Kind regards,

    Yogan Khandoo

Jodie I'm replying your question. I'm a South African living in the UK. My boyfriend did not need a visa when he visited me in SA for 90 days after his arrival, so no you don't need one. Your passport will also be stamped accordingly.
    Hope that helps happy
Remember that you will have to return to the UK in order to reply for a visa though.

  • Marriage requirements?

I was wondering if anyone could help me here. I'm a US citizen, and in three months' time I'm going to visit my South African boyfriend. We're unofficially engaged, and we plan to be married while I am visiting. Do I need a special sort of visa for this? Also, I'm leaving soon afterward to come back to the US and petition for a US spousal visa for him. Are there any legal issues I would have to tend to concerning my departure from South Africa/entry back into the US?

My intended husband to be is South African native. I am US citizen and we are both in process of securing divorces from our respective spouses so we can marry. He is planning to come to the US to join me, but we are having a hard time figuring out visa applications. Is it smarter to apply for visitor visa and get married in US or should we wait for divorces to be final and then I fly to SA to marry him, and we apply after the fact? Any help or advice would be welcome.
