Marriage requirements?

I was wondering if anyone could help me here. I'm a US citizen, and in three months' time I'm going to visit my South African boyfriend. We're unofficially engaged, and we plan to be married while I am visiting. Do I need a special sort of visa for this? Also, I'm leaving soon afterward to come back to the US and petition for a US spousal visa for him. Are there any legal issues I would have to tend to concerning my departure from South Africa/entry back into the US?
